Hundreds gathered in a meeting space near the ACE Hotel in New Orleans on Carondalet St. Sunday evening to attend Sony's #BeAlpha Event. The event, hosted by Sony, brought the local photography and video community together for a fun night of creating.
Guests were encouraged to register online before the event on Sony's BeAlpha website. Once registered, guests were offered freebies in the form of a Sony BeAlpha hat, stickers, and a coupon for a prize pack after a $500 purchase. Around 5pm guests were then allowed into the main showroom which was setup with scenes for photos, gear rental booth, bar, and workers with snacks.
Working with locals, Sony was able to set up scenes with models, designers, makeup artists and other creators for photographers and videographers to capture. Each scene had a doel or models in eclectic outfits and props that would make for great photos and videos. There were even boards located near the scenes with tips to help would be creators capture a decent shot.
Another caviat to this event is that Sony allowed guests to rent gear for the night. Whether the creators were long time Sony shooters or this was their first experience with the manufacturer, Sony provided its latest lineup of camera bodies and lenses for creators to try. By simply providing a photo ID, Photographers, videographers, and the like were able to test out the latest cameras and lenses Sony has to offer for the length of the event.
Photographers, videographers, models and creatives from around the state showed up to be a part of Sony's event in New Orleans. There was an amazing turnout and no doubt many connections were made. Sony also encouraged attendees to post on social media using their hashtags #BeAlpaha and #SonyAlphaMeetup to connect with one another and an opportunity to win prizes.
