Krewe of Poseidon | Mardi Gras Parade | Slidell 2022

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of Mardi Gras. Larger than life crowds of rambunctious people are really not my forte. However, when my sister-in-law, who lives in England, asks you to go to a parade, you go. Naturally to soften the blow, I brought along my Sony a6500. To keep the kit small, I did not bring the battery grip or an external flash, and I only brought one lens, a sigma 30mm 2.8.

The parade didn’t actually reach our location until after the sun went down. This forced me to bump the ISO up (which caused some grain in the photos).

Overall, I’m satisfied with the images based on the kit that I had with me. If I had brought my full frame camera or an external flash, things could have turned out a little more clear and free of grain, but grain isn’t always a bad thing.

I'd love to know what you think of the photos. Leave a comment below.
