Sondra’s Birthday Portraits at the Shaw Center in Baton Rouge

At the beginning of the year, Sondra’s mother reached out to me on Instagram asking if I could take birthday portraits for her. I’ve known Sondra and her family for many years. I actually grew up across the street from them.

So when my old neighbor and family friend asked if I could take photos of her daughter for her 16th birthday of course I said yes!

After a little back and forth we decided that The Shaw Center in Downtown Baton Rouge would be a great location for these photos.

I LOVE The Shaw Center! It’s a nice tall building in downtown. It’s close to the river and sits across from the old Louisiana State Capitol building. The architecture and site features are new and fun and provide an excellent elegant background.

Sondra showed up with little to no direction on how to pose. After some light coaching from me and cheering from her mom, she was able to relax and find some poses that look great for her. I believe the portraits we captured really commemorate her 16th birthday well, and I’m really proud of what we were able to create together.

I'd love to know what you think of the photos. Leave a comment below. If you're interested in a photoshoot, please reach out via my contact page.
